Hello, my name is Robin Groenewoud and I was born on August 14, 2003 in Leiden.

When I was 12 years old, I was diagnosed with leukemia. For this disease I was intensively treated with chemotherapies for 3 years. These drugs have greatly affected the bones and muscles in my legs, so I can no longer walk or stand.
Before I got sick, I already thought sports were one of the best things to do. I was playing football then. Since football is difficult if you can't walk, I had to stop this sport. Together with the rehabilitation center where I was being treated, I tried various wheelchair sports. Wheelchair tennis immediately appealed to me.
In February 2019 I received my first training in wheelchair tennis and it soon became clear that I had a talent for this. A few months later (July 2019) I played and won my first national tournament. Half a year after my first training (September 2019) I was invited to train with the Dutch Talent Team of the KNLTB. Since then I train 4 times a week.
In April 2021 I came second at the MTA Open ITF junior tournament in Antalya, Turkey. June that year I won an ITF tournament for the very first time, the junior Amjoy Cup in Eindhoven. In the same month I also won the junior title in Flanders, Belgium. In August 2021 I became Dutch junior champion. Since then I have won tournaments in Barneveld (singles and doubles), Les Petits As (doubles), Zoute (doubles), Goirle (singles and doubles) and Ath (doubles).
At the moment I am training harder and harder to achieve my goals in wheelchair tennis. I now train 5 to 6 times a week (20 hours) and I play as many national and international tournaments as possible.
My goals are fixed: I want to become number 1 in the world and I want to go to the Paralympic Games!
You can help and/or support me with this.
