Robin Groenewoud wins his first international wheelchair tennis tournament

On June 4. Robin Groenewoud has won the international wheelchair tennis tournament in Alghero (Sardinia). In recent years, he had regularly been in the semi-finals and finals of international tournaments, and this time he closed the tournament with a victory for the first time. In the final, he convincingly defeated Chilean Jaime Sepulveda 6-2 6-1, giving the Rijnsburger his first title.

Robin was also in the doubles with his tennis partner Maarten ten Hofte in the final, but they had to settle for second place. This spring, Robin and Maarten had already won two international wheelchair tennis tournaments with the doubles (Anatolia Open, Demirci Akincilari Open) in Antalya (Turkey).

Robin continues to rise in the world rankings. Robin is now ranked 58th in the world wheelchair tennis singles rankings, and 55th in doubles. Robin's ultimate goal is to be selected for the Paralympic Games in Paris (2024).

In the coming period, tournaments in Switzerland and Belgium are scheduled, with new opportunities for success.
